“Mission Blacklist” UPDATED Filming Schedule & Location Information

UPDATE: The Improper suggests that location shooting for Mission:Blacklist could take place in Morocco or Jordan.
Obviously if there is anymore news or official confirmation of this we’ll update and let you know all about it.

From The Improper:

A source confirms to The Improper that the movie won’t be shot in Iraq as originally reported. The film will likely do its location shooting in Morocco or Jordan.

A number of period desert films have been shot the North African country, including 2001′s “Black Hawk Down.” In the last few years, Michael Patrick King’s “Sex and the City 2,” Disney’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” and “Inception” have been filmed there.

But Director Kathryn Bigelow chose to film her Oscar-winning Iraq war epic, “The Hurt Locker,” in Jordan. She wanted to be as close to Iraq as possible, while avoiding the war-torn country. “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” also filmed in Jordan in 1988.

NEW Robert Pattinson Talks About His “Mission Blacklist” Haircut & A Postponement Of The Original Date For Start Of Shooting

While Robert Pattinson was in Berlin for promotion of his movie “Cosmopolis” spoke to Interview.de. They asked him about the buzz cut he had the last time he visited Berlin for “Bel Ami” Promotion.

Here’s the part of the interview where he talks about his hair and also mentions how the original date for the start of shooting of “Mission Blacklist” was postponed. (NB Rob has mentioned in a few interviews recently how MB is to start shooting in the autumn but nothing has been officially announced yet)

Note: Interview is translated using google

Interview with Mr. Pattinson, your hair is long again. Note: He had a crew cut the last time. Did you actually cut your hair for your role in “Cosmopolis” or “Bel Ami”?

Robert Pattinson:
Neither. It was for a movie where I play a soldier who discovers Saddam Hussein. The shooting should have begun in the spring, but was postponed to the autumn.

Robert Pattinson Tells Industria Magazine How He Met With Eric Maddox For 16 hours

Robert Pattinson likes to spend a lot of time researching his roles before filming a movie and if that means spending 16 hours with Eric Maddox to get the low down on how he found Saddam Hussein then that’s exactly what he’ll do.

Would anyone else like to have been a fly on the wall in that room?

Transcript
Q: What are you doing next?
A: I’m doing Mission: Blacklist #1 with Jean-Stephane Sauvaire who made Johnny Mad Dog, about Eric Maddox who is the interrogator who led the US to find Saddam Hussein. I hung out with Eric in Washington, he had just got back from Afghanistan, and he gave me the full run down, over 16 hours, of how he found Saddam Hussein. He has a photographic memory and talking through every single detail. Hopefully we will be shooting in Iraq, I think it’s going to be very cool.

He also mentioned meeting Eric and the pressure of doing a good job on the movie to “Skip” Magazine in a translated article

SKIP: Has your approach to looking for parts changed now?
Robert: Sure, I’m older and more confident. I was always afraid that I would never get offered any roles like this one. And to be invited to Cannes on top of it all, you suddenly begin to really see yourself as an actor. I mean Wow, I can really do cool movies as well (laughs)! I have very recently signed on to a couple of projects which, at this time last year, I wouldn’t have thought I’d be able to do. In one of them I’ll play a soldier who was present when they arrested Saddam Hussein. To prepare I’ve spent some time with the guy and of course it’s very important for him that we get it right. That’s quite a lot of pressure – but I like it that way!

Transcript:

Question: Hi! One of your next projects is Mission:Blacklist. What made you choose this role and are you really going to scout locations in Iraq?

Robert Pattinson : I read the script. I thought the script…I didn’t even realize that the script was a real story and then they told me it was a true story. I met Eric Maddox who it’s based on. He’s one of the most fascinating people I have ever met and the story’s amazing. We’re looking into Iraq, I mean he was there, I mean it’s quite difficult obviously to go there, but I think it would be a good thing to do to go and start… you know.

“Mission:Blacklist Is A Really Fascinating Story” – Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson was asked about upcoming movies in this new video from the “Cosmopolis” Berlin Press Junket.
Watch below at the 2:16 mark where he talks about starting shooting Mission:Blacklist in the next couple of months and how it’s such a fascinating story
We totally agree with him!

Robert Pattinson Talks About The Possibility Of Filming “Mission: Blacklist” In Iraq

Rob mentioned “Mission:Blacklist” and the possibility of filming the movie in Iraq to a couple of magazines.

First up this translated interview from “Les InRockuptibles”

“I have a project with Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, who directed Johnny Mad Dog. It’s called Mission: Blacklist, a movie about the search and capture of Saddam Hussein. And you know what? He wants to film in Iraq. F**k yeah! Nobody else would have the balls to do that! Everyone wants him to go to Tunisia but he insists: it’s happening in Iraq, I’m filming in Iraq. He’s right! At least, as long as we don’t get kidnapped *laughs*.”

He also mentions about wanting to shoot in Iraq to Metro France

Your next movie will be with Cronenberg then?
I don’t know when exactly we’re going to shoot. It will be David’s first movie in America. In Los Angeles, to be exact. It will be about the industry of cinematography and I promise that it’s going to be really weird. Till then, I’m doing Mission: Blacklist with the French director, Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, who did Johnny Mad Dog. It’ll be about the search of Saddam Hussein and we want to film in Iraq, in Tikrit, even tho it’s complicated. But I’m 26 and it’s the kind of thing that tempts me. If someone should do it, it will be me!
